CROATIA week 2
We met up with our boat - the Penelopa and after a welcome drink set sail. We spent 7 days sailing around the Croatian coast. We would set sail early and pull into a cove where we would swim off the side of the boat, after lunch we would dock at a new location and explore the island afternoon. After returning to the boat to freshen up we would set off to sample the local restaurants and night life. We hired a scooter in Makarska, swam in Bol, partied with the rich at Carpe Diem in Hvar, relaxed and kayaked in Korcula and took in the wonders of Dubrovnik.
Dubrovnik was the highlight of the tour. It is a walled city that has recently been restored. White marble streets and bright tile roofs give a beautiful contrast to the deep blue sea that surrounds it. We walked around the high wall that encircles the city and wandered through the many cool winding streets . We also partied with the Penelopa team into the early hours at the very fashionable EAST WEST beach nightclub.
Croatia was a mix of beautiful surroundings, happening nightlife and a rich history.
CROATIA week 1
Warren and I spent 2 weeks in Croatia- 1 week travelling independently and 1 week cruising with Sail Croatia. We flew to Zagrab, the capital and stayed for 2 nights. It is a beautiful city with many historic buildings often is a state of disrepair (this adds to the charm). We looked at many beautiful churches, ate some delicious fresh fruit from the big market and sat around the outside bars drinking coffee with the locals
Split was our next stop, we had an awesome apartment in the very centre overlooking a beautiful town square. Split has a large lived in palace and many beautiful sites to see. We spent many afternoons relaxing at the marina drinking.
We took 2 buses and a ferry to see the waterfalls at KRKA national park. They were beautiful and flowing very strongly. We tried to swim but it was so icy we only got in up to our knees!

Glastonbury Festival
June 21-24 was the Glastonbury Festival - the original and biggest music festival in Europe. It is 3 days of music, performers, stalls, circus acts and......mud! We camped with a group of friends and the hightlights of the festival were; the killers, the kooks, chemical bros and the kaiser chiefs. It did not stop raining the entire time and as you can see the mud was past our ankles!! We had an awesome time with awesome friends and I didnt complain about not having a hairdryer once!!!
Corinne and Andrew visit London
In April Corinne and Andrew stayed with us for 4 days before they started on their european contiki. We had a great time sightseeing around london. We took the southbank walk past Parliament square, London eye, St Pauls Cathedral and tower bridge. We went shopping in Harods (corinne got a nose bleed!) and relaxed in Hyde Park. We also went to see the musical We Will Rock You. It was great seeing them again!
Easter in Edinburgh
Over the 4 day easter break warren and I flew to Edinburgh to stay with Erin and Nichola. We met Erins new man Iain, who (once we could understand him) showed us around town. On the first night we had a lovely dinner overlooking Princes street and the castle. Over the next few days we checked out the castle and learnt about poor queen mary and her bad husbands, we walked the royal mile complete with a kilt factory and bagpipes and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. There is a story about a little dog Bobby, that sat at its dead owners grave for years and years.... I didnt believe it but erin seemed pretty sure. We went to some very trendy bars and restaurants (and had a hidden chilli attack)- Edinburgh is alot cooler then I expected and I was great to see Erin and Nikki again.
