Warren and Amanda's Holiday
Welcome to the website of Amanda Burgess and Warren Lane. On the 9th of April 2006 we are commencing a European Holiday. Amanda will visit Egypt and the Greek Islands initally with her parents and sister Elise. We will then meet up in the romantic city of Rome on the 28th of April. We plan to spend 3 weeks in Italy, 3 weeks in France before making our way to London to earn some pounds!!!
Prague
Prague is a very beautiful city. We stayed for 5 days to celebrate Amandas 25th birthday. We flew in on a saturday and after a brief look around the main shopping street and a delicious Italian dinner we hit the 'biggest niteclub in eastern europe' - Kalory Lazne. It had 5 floors with music ranging from cool house, commercial dance, R'n'B and terrible terrible 80's. Warren got high on Absinthe and loved the laser show!! We had a great night and caught a dodgy taxi (some random guys car) home. The next day we took in the beautiful sights of Charles Bridge and Prague Castle (Prazsky Hrad). The bridge has two towers at either end and on each side 10 m apart are large statues of jesus, saints and religious figues. Lamp posts are spaced out and hawkers selling crafts, paintings and photos fill the sides. We walked the medievil winding streets up to the castle. A large 10th C complex comtaining St Vitis Cathedral, the royal palace, basilica of St George and the Golden Lane (lane of shops and cute houses).
FIRECRACKER NIGHT
The 5th of November is firecracker night in London. It celebrates a 400 year old plot by a Catholic man Fawkes to blow up Parliment House and King James I. He was discovered in the basement of Parliment House with many barrels of Gun Powder. Years later londoners celebrate with massive fireworks displays across the city. On sat night we went to Ravenscourt Park fair to watch the big bonfire and firecracker display. On Sun night we trecked up to Parliment Hill near our house and let of some of our own (warren burnt his glove, very dangerous business). We then sat back with a view over the entire city and watched the sky come alive with hundreds of beautiful explosions.
